SAMIA Companies solved our identity crisis.  Sign dedicated June 2007.

New School Sign

For many, many years, the high school has lacked prominent signage to set it apart from its two hospital neighbors.  So often, people confuse the school as part of either St. Elizabeth's Medical Center or the Marine / Public Health Hospital.  We're proud to announce that in June, 2007, the identity crisis was solved.  Thanks to a very successful fundraising campaign last year at the 1st Annual Live and Silent Auction, a group of alumni, staff, students, parents and community volunteers raised over $25,000. All of this would not have been possible without the donor support of the Greater Boston business community.  The sign was erected on the first plateau of the front lawn along Warren and Nevins Streets facing Cambridge Street.

The fundraising event raised funds for two key areas. The first, the school sign and the second, to reinstate after-school and other educational programs that previously fell victim to budget cuts.  A very special donor emerged at the conclusion of the auction and through his philanthropy, the over $10,000 earmarked for the sign was redirected to these programs.  Brighton real estate developer, Len Samia and the Samia Companies paid for the sign's matching funds requirement so all other monies raised could be directed towards the programs at the school. The committment shown by Mr. Samia and his firm is extraordinary and we cannot thank them enough.

The student designed sign features an arch, like many of the windows on the building's fascade; the school name and the bengal tiger, our mascot.  The sign was laser-cut from iron and permanently mounted on a concrete footing.  It is a wonderful sight to see.

LANDSCAPING NEEDED:  At this time, we are seeking a donor to provide some additional landscaping ( a softscape ) around the immediate area around the sign.  If any "alums" own or are affiliated with a landscaping company that may be able to  assist here, please call the BHSAA or Headmaster Romer at the school.

We thank all of you that made this endeavor more successful than we had originally planned.
